Vegan + Nut Free Pesto

Hell, hello! We are back from our break and feeling refreshed! We hope you all have been able to take time for yourselves to relax this summer too. Today will be a two-part recipe. Here we will share our recipe for a vegan and nut free pesto. We also have a recipe on how to make delicious pesto sandwiches here. Enjoy! 

Homemade Vegan + Nut Free Pesto



-2 Cups fresh basil 

-¼-½ Cup good olive oil

-2 Tbsp Lemon juice

-2 Cloves garlic

-3-4 Tbsp sunflower seeds, or pumpkin seeds (these replace traditionally used pine nuts and are totally optional. But they offer a good cheesy flavor and texture to the pesto)

-salt to taste


Wash and pat dry your basil, and peel your garlic.

Add everything into a food processor and blend until smooth. Pause occasionally to scrape down the sides to make sure you get everything!

We recommend adding half the oil to start, and then continuing to add a little bit more until you get it nice and smooth (you may not need all of it).
